The NVIDIA App replaced GeForce Experience on PCs with NVIDIA graphics cards. Its overlay includes ShadowPlay recording and Instant Replay, for gamers who want to save gameplay without a separate app.

## At a glance

- Watermark when free: No
- Price: Free (Free download for PCs with an NVIDIA GPU, no paid plans. From nvidia.com, 6 Oct 2026.)
- Max resolution: 8K
- Made by: NVIDIA (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/)

## What we like

- Free, with recording up to 8K or 4K at 120 fps, and 240 fps on RTX 40 and 50 Series
- Instant Replay saves the last moments of play with one hotkey
- Highlights saves key moments automatically in supported games

## What to watch

- Needs an NVIDIA GeForce GPU and Windows
- No editor: the Gallery only plays and sorts your captures
- No upload or share link; YouTube and Facebook sharing from GeForce Experience was dropped

## Our verdict

The NVIDIA App is the free companion app for NVIDIA graphics cards, and it replaced GeForce Experience in November 2024. Its overlay still includes ShadowPlay: Record for whole sessions, Instant Replay to save what just happened, and Highlights to catch key moments in supported games. It records at up to 8K, or 4K at 120 fps.

The catch is the hardware. It only runs on Windows with an NVIDIA GeForce GPU, so it's no use on AMD or Intel graphics. After you stop recording, you get a local file: there's no editor, and the old YouTube and Facebook sharing didn't make the move from GeForce Experience.

If you want instant links and an editor for your clips, look at [Medal](/reviews/medal/). For any graphics card, [OBS Studio](/reviews/obs-studio/) is free and gives you full control, and [Xbox Game Bar](/reviews/xbox-game-bar/) is already built into Windows.
