## Our verdict

Loom is built for one job: record your screen and camera, then send a link. The link is ready when you stop, anyone with it can watch, and viewers can comment and react. The desktop app records system audio on Windows and Mac, and paid plans record up to 4K with no length limit.

The free Starter plan is tight. You get 25 videos of up to 5 minutes, in 720p, and you can't download them. Business costs $180 per user a year, and editing beyond trim and stitch, such as edit by transcript and text overlays, needs Business + AI at $240.

If you only need the share link and want a lower price, look at [Cap](/reviews/cap/) or [Zight](/reviews/zight/). If you use Linux or a Chromebook, Loom doesn't support them. For polished tutorials with a real editor, [Tella](/reviews/tella/) or [Camtasia](/reviews/camtasia/) fit better.
