# OBS Studio 33 moves plugins to new folders and drops Ubuntu 24.04

OBS Studio 33.0, released on October 23, 2026, changes where plugins are installed, updates the framework behind browser sources and reworks source snapping. Ubuntu 24.04 is no longer supported; the Windows and macOS requirements didn't change.


The OBS Project released OBS Studio 33.0.0 on October 23, 2026.[^notes] The main changes in its release notes:

- **New plugin folders.** OBS's own plugins move to a new folder named core, and third-party plugins get a new installation location and folder structure. Plugins in the old locations keep loading until OBS Studio 34.0.
- **Browser sources and docks** run on a much newer version of their framework (CEF 150, up from 127). The release notes say the change should be invisible to users.
- **Source snapping** in the preview has a new visual indicator. Sources snap along the whole axis, and no longer snap to hidden sources.
- **Number fields** behave better: situations where typing was blocked or numbers were cut off are fixed, and a value changes only after you press Enter.
- **Smaller additions:** hotkeys for audio monitoring of a source, support for the newest NVIDIA Broadcast SDKs, better detection of full-screen games for Game Capture, and NVIDIA's NVENC encoder on Arm64.

The release also fixes a crash when starting OBS Studio on macOS 27.2.[^notes]

OBS Studio 33.0 removes support for Ubuntu 24.04.[^notes] The download page now lists the official PPA for Ubuntu 26.04 and newer, next to the Flatpak on Flathub, and still says Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 13.0 and newer.[^download] A 33.0.1 hotfix followed on October 29, fixing crashes and a deadlock when logging into Twitch, YouTube and other service integrations, and plugins failing to load in the Flatpak.[^hotfix]
